Getting Ready For Change - The Suburban Warrior

The people who think that nothing that dramatic will happen are all over the place. Mostly because the human mind is not built to think of "insecure" possibilities. Life is challangeing enough without the need to consider basic survival as well. However, that is precisely what we need to do. We need to be both experts at living our daily lives and experts at formulating what if's scenarios. Is this tricky? Yup. For most it is down right impossible. Nothing in the world could be more confusing than focusing on the future and all the wonderful possibilities and dreams for ourselves and our children and then at the same time having to make a 360 degree turn in mental focus and entertain all of the ugly possibilities. Make no mistake about this. The very foundation of all that is good and functioning is at risk. Let me illustrate.

The typical American Dream. People all over the world chase this dream. Just a new name for dreaming of the future and all its possibilities. We seem to be naturally wired to this thinking. And it makes sense. The natural state of any human being is to want to improve his or her station oin life. Pass all they learn in to "the kids" and watch in awe as our chidren "out do" us in their lives. Kinda like the master laying down to become the bridge for the student. This is life moving forward one family at a time all over the world. Making large changes to the world and its possibilties one family at a time. Where things get tricky is when this very basic "life must move forward" mentality gets side tracked by evil things outside of our control. And while I am a very "we make our own destiny" kinda guy, it is not only silly but irresponsible to think that large country wide swaths of change cannot happen. And have no doubt that powerful people are in a position to see that it gets get bad. For there own reasons. Conspiracy is the topic for other places though. Here at The Next Leap we need to urgently focus on what we can do right now given the reality of the situation we face. Lets begin with a partial list of the various changes happening all around us.

The economy and fractional reserve banking is finished. Any fiat currency has a shelf life of about 80 years. That is the life span of possible exspandtion and contraction of any particular currency and its inflation and de-flation cycles. Not only is the worlds reserve currency finished "on paper" but the system governing global banking "aka" Bretton Woods has seen its last days.

Weather or not this system remains propped up or not you can be assured that we will see DRAMATIC global economic changes. How does this affect you? In all ways possible. Any part of your life that money touches (and has been set up that way) will become areas of major concern. This one suject alone connects back to all other areas of concern at The Next Leap.

Natural Disasters. Did you know that SIGNIFICANT natural disasters have increased in occurrence by nearly 400% since the 1950's? And the economic costs of those disasters have risen about 1400%? Endless speculation as to why this is happening is being debated all over the world. Different groups have different theories and most agree that big changes are occurring. Global Warming? I dont know. It does not matter because it is happening. You will not stop it now so dont worry about the why's.

The Bee colonies all over the world are collapsing. Information on this subject is easy to find if you go looking for it. I serioulsy doubt you will hear about it on the main stream media but lots of information is available in "other" places. Google it. You will be shocked. What does this mean?

Well let me put it this way...Start to grow your own food now. Start to stock pile "long shelf life"

foods and supplies now. Colony collaspe disorder as it is called is a much bigger problem than you are likley aware. I highly recommend getting educated on this one subject alone. What do bees do? They pollunate everything. Our food supply is at risk from this one issue. I do not envy those in the government who have to attempt to deal with this.

The composition of the ice in both the Artic and the Antartic is changing. In the Antartic massive ice feilds the size of small countries are breaking off the ice shelf. In the Artic the over all volume of ice in the dead of winter has been getting smaller. The very ecosystem of the planet will be and has already started to change. Look into it. Educate yourself. Get informed.

My personal favorite is the Sun itself. The sun is undergoing a dramatic cyclical change. Obviously we can't really measure it because humanity is so young, but scientist have been observing some wild things. Remember the Sun makes up 90% of all matter in our solar system.

Again look around a bit.

The Ostrich Syndrome. From my person experience I have observed that most people whom I talk to about these various things simply do not want to "hear it". I am not sure of the true reasons for this other than I suspect over whelming fear. The problem with this is that the more peolpe that do not take responsibility, the heavier the burden will be on those that do.

And that my friends is not fair. I am not convinced that humanity has "destroyed" the planet.

I simply do not know. What I do know is that this is happening. The governments around the world are well aware of it as well. Be certain of that. What contigency plans are the they making? Are you going to wait and see how it goes? I would hope not.

And in the mean time begin training your mind to live in a dual world where on one hand every thing is rosy (because it needs to be) and on the other things are changing very quickly. Start to prepare yourself for taking "dramatic" action when getting ready for the change that is with out any shadow of a doubt coming. [http://the-next-leap.blogspot.com]

Preparing For Dollar Collapse Under Obama - Financial Preppers Get Ready For the Worst

Those astute investors who want to protect their assets from a possible collapse in the value of the dollar - who are nowadays looking to invest in foreign multi currency accounts, foreign residency and second passport programs - have a new name: "Financial Preppers." In a recent article, "Rise of the Preppers," Newsweek describes them as, "...regular people with homes and families. But like the survivalists that came before them, they are preparing for the worst." They are not, however, holing up with canned food and gas masks in their basements. Modern financial Preppersare sophisticated international financial planners who are learning the secrets of offshore asset protection.

One website, The American Preppers Network, receives 5000 visitors a day. Its founder, Tom Martin, observes that, "There are so many variables and potential disasters out there, being a Prepper is just a reaction to that potential." For a Prepper, these "variables and potential disasters" include the collapse in the commercial real estate market, government nationalization or appropriation of 401ks and IRAs (something Obama is already dropping hints about), the unfunded and off-balance-sheet liabilities of Social Security, Medicare and other US Government programs, and trillions in new debt for more and more bailouts.

All this has only one logical conclusion for financial preppers: devaluation of the US dollar against hard currencies such as gold. Many more people are joining this financial prepper movement, following obvious questions raised about the competence of leadership due to the healthcare bill and the controversial HIRE Act. As one prepper puts it rather sarcastically, "in times of crisis, the only sure thing is that you can count on your government."

When residential real estate and the stock market crashed in 2008, unemployment doubled. Yet when the US Government, i.e. the taxpayer, came to the rescue with trillions borrowed from the Chinese or Arabs, unemployment continued to rise along with the big bonuses on Wall Street. The natural result of unemployment so high is record home foreclosures predicted: 7 million for 2010, twice those of 2009. In view of all this, I believe the article in Newsweek should not have been about why more and more are being becoming Preppers, but why anyone would not!

With the fall in housing prices in the US as a result of so many homes going unsold, it is indeed ironic that many Preppers, along with others, are turning to acquisitions of international real estate. It is unsurprising, however, when one considers the advantages of international real estate as a primary residence, vacation home or investment property. Why live in OECD countries and pay high taxes, when you can legally live abroad and take adevantage of $90,000 a year tax free earned income?

Most buyers in tax-free offshore havens like Panama and Belize are overtaxed Europeans and Americans looking for a milder climate, lower taxes and a higher quality of life. As international real estate is becoming more popular, two factors have evolved that make it a shrewd investment. The first is that, despite the crisis, foreign banks are increasingly willing to finance these properties. The second is that with more buyers and easier financing, prices in countries with business-friendly regimes and financial systems like Panama and Belize are continuing to rise from basic "supply and demand."

While buying international real estate is a relatively new Prepper strategy, Preppers are also turning to the time-honored hedge of buying and storing gold bullion and other precious metals stored in offshore vaults - often located in Switzerland, Austria or Singapore. Gold is, and always has been, not just accepted, but preferred as payment for goods and services around the world when currencies tank. It is the best asset protection there is against the threat of currency devaluation. This is evidenced by the way the price of gold has soared recently, while the purchasing power of the dollar has plunged.

Storing gold bullion and other physical precious metals offshore, like investing in international real estate, offers prepper investors the security and peace of mind that comes with traditional financial privacy. With Swiss-style bank secrecy under attack around the world, and the US Foreign Bank Account Reporting (FBAR) form now requiring individual Americans to list bank names and account numbers, holding physical bullion and real estate have both become increasingly attractive. Neither ownership of foreign real estate nor foreign physical bullion need be reported on tax returns or FBAR forms.

The bottom line? Preppers have been growing in ranks since Hurricane Katrina. Preppers are responsible adults making rational decisions to protect their families' assets and wealth by buying international real estate and gold bullion stored offshore to protect their investments.

Are You Ready For A Survival Situation?

No one, nowhere, is safe from the Earth's destructive forces. We all need to be prepared. In the event of a major catastrophe the response of the government will be slow, if any. It is up to us to prepare for, and survive the situations that nature, or man himself deals to us.

The recent Tsunami in Japan and Indonesia in 2004, along with hurricane Katrina in New Orleans, was and still are, T.E.O.T.W.A.W.K.I (The End Of The World As We Know It) situations for those people. However it does not have to be a natural disaster. Man has created a lot of devastation on this planet. If you live in Iraq, Afghanistan, Korea, Vietnam, Ukraine, Mogadishu, Somalia, Sudan, Rwanda, Palestine and now Libya, just to name a few then you know what a survival situation is. The list is endless of regions that have been destroyed by nature, war, violence and genocide. These things happen every day and it will not stop anytime soon. Although we should keep hope, the future of "peace on earth" is not foreseeable.

The end of the world as we know it situation could happen to anyone at anytime, without warning. It could happen to you tomorrow, the day after tomorrow, next year, or never. If we are lucky we will live long healthy lives without major incidence. But the possibility that the world could end as YOU know it, is there, and it is very real, whether it be man or nature. You must be prepared for the worst.

This is not meant to instill fear into anyone, rather a sense of awareness, and reality. The reality is no matter how prepared you are for any survival situation, you are bound to face hard times if it happens to you. Murphy's Law says: "If it can happen, it will."

The first step you need to take in preparation for any event or situation is knowledge. Your mind will be the most useful tool you own when the (you know what) Hits The Fan. So get yourself a good book or two about survival preparation.

If you live in the city, you will need a more advanced knowledge base to deal with the chaos and lawlessness that sometimes ensues when disaster strikes, whether it be natural, man-made or economical. For example: Egypt went from a prospering nation of law-abiding citizens, to a dark, blacked out country full of violence and anarchy in a matter of hours. Now in Libya, things are much worse.

The question on everyone's mind is: Could it happen here in America? The answer simply is, Yes, it can happen anywhere. If it happens to you, will you be prepared? Or will you beg, starve, and steal along with the uninformed, uneducated beings of procrastination?

If you have read this entire article then you are smart enough to know that you should be prepared. Does a squirrel not work all summer to store enough nuts for winter? How much food is in your closet? When the power goes out, could you get clean fresh water, or keep your family warm? If you do have a private food stock, can you protect it, and defend it?

The first thing you should buy is a "Go Pack". Among the survivalist community this is called a "Bug Out Bag". A backpack full of goodies that you can grab in a moments notice if you have to flee your house due to a fire, flood, earthquake, civil unrest, etc. Don't be afraid of the word "survivalist". For many people it brings to mind a wide-eyed long bearded man in the wilderness with an AK-47, ready to shoot at anything that moves. Yes, there are those guys out there, but the majority of "survivalist's" are regular people who refuse to starve to death if for some reason the supermarkets no longer carry food. They refuse to let someone come on their property and steal the things they have worked so hard for. They are prepared for the worst and hope for the best. They will be the ones who help you, if you are unprepared.

Here is a small list of things you need in that backpack:

Water and a water filter or iodine tablets
Freeze dried or dehydrated foods such as MRE's or Mountain House Meals
Flashlights and batteries
Hand-crank Emergency Radio
Multi Tool
Extra Clothing
Rope
Lighters and Magnesium Fire Starter
Map of your area and a compass
Sun Block, Lip Balm, Toilet Paper
$20-$100 cash
Folding Shovel
Tarp
Duct Tape
Survival knife with fishing kit
First aid Kit

The Federal Government has been warning the American public for years to:

"Get A Kit, Make A Plan, Be Informed".

Will you heed this warning, or tempt the hand of fate?
