We Can Not Rely Upon the Government in a Crisis

When you pick up the morning newspaper or switch on your favorite news channel on the television you are continually bombarded with negative aspects of our country. You see how the economy is being downgraded, you make note of the high unemployment rate, you readily witness homes being lost as the banks foreclose on them and hear of the general civil unrest taking place here in America. This tends to sound alarms within certain groups of people - one faction being the growing cluster of "preppers" around the nation.

"Preppers" are not merely a survival group or a selection of individuals who distrust government motives but everyday people like you and I who realize that our country is heading into some serious predicaments. These people are fed up with the common bureaucracy encountered during and after a disaster, they wonder about the safety of their family in these times of global terrorism and they are simply not sitting still and accepting the status quo. This is a crowd of active and involved people are taking the issues one step further and doing what many expect the government to do.

These growing movements of "Preppers" are doing everything humanly possible in order to ensure that if and when the next disaster should strike our country that they can take care of their families in a responsible manner. It could be a natural disaster or even a dreaded nuclear attack with dangerous fallout, but these guys will be ready. Their philosophy is not to wait for Uncle Sam to help them but rather to be ready to help yourself.

The mounting bands of preppers are trying to think of every possible situation that could occur and plan accordingly for it. They practice various scenarios and store up on sufficient food and supplies to enable them to evacuate their home environment at a moments notice. Once their decision has been reached they will quickly head for safer grounds if necessary. The threat that these folks see is real and is gets closer to our doorstep each and every day.

The idea behind this movement is that we should be prepared to take responsibility for our own actions and safety. It is up to us as both human beings and responsible people to plan for the unfortunate times when the government can not or will not respond. You may be sitting at your computer desk wondering how would I know what is going through the minds of a "prepper" well it just so happens that I am one of these prepared individuals. For the benefit of your family shouldn't you be one as well?
